As you might have noticed WordPress recently released their long expected version 4.0 “Benny”. Security updates are already updated automatically, but a big release like this needs to be done by hand from the Dashboard and this can be risky and making an update to your Live website brings even more risk. In this video tutorial I will show you how you can test WordPress 4.0 with your live website without any risk.

Something that everyone should do who has a WordPress website is keep it completely up to date. Keeping your WordPress website up to date ensures all plugins will continue working, you will have access to the latest features and most importantly that your WordPress website is now “safe” from hackers and intruders.

You can safely update your WordPress website by logging in to your website backend and click on “Dashboard” and then click “Updates“. Click on the update button and it will automatically download the latest version and install it and if necessary it will also automatically update your WordPress Database for you.

Every now and then when you upgrade this way something, like a plugin or so, might go wrong, it might crash your entire website, it might show some extra errors, so take a note that you always have a backup ready to restore your website to the original state.

Just remember that every minute your website is down you are loosing visitors, subscribers, sales and eventually profit. Especially those who own a website that has a large amount of traffic can loose a lot of potential clients. You can prevent it.

In this video I will show you how you can create a duplicate of your live website under 10 minutes and upgrade and test WordPress 4.0 with your live website right from your dashboard with a WordPress plugin called Backup Creator so you will be sure when updating your live website to WordPress 4.0 it will keep running like it should be.
